Meet the Tutor

Hello Parents!

My name is Nola, and I'm really excited about the possibility of becoming your child's tutor. A little about myself? Well, currently I'm a graduate student of mental health counseling, and I received my bachelor's degree in English from Georgia State University. My professional interests include working with intellectually and developmentally "disadvantaged" or "disabled" children, privately educating students, and participating in various volunteer initiatives in the community. I put the word "disadvantaged" in quotations because let's face it: I don't believe that our wonderful children who may learn a little differently than other students are disabled or automatically at a disadvantage. Absolutely not. I believe that these perceptions have created self-esteem and self-confidence issues in our children, and it is time to reassert their sense of self-worth and personal value.

As I journey down the road towards obtaining my professional degree, I look forward to watching my students make academic progress while engaging in fun learning activities. It is important for me to understand the personality of the children that I tutor, and their particular learning style so that I can encourage them to feel confident in not only their school-related progress, but in themselves as well!

I look forward to meeting you very soon, and in the meantime please feel free to peruse my blog, and remember: "No matter how difficult things may seem, you can never lose by looking at the glass as half full, 'because optimism makes all the difference.'" ~ Glass Half Full Tutor
